CHIC & SUGAR

Last Thursday, I made Pumpkin Hummus. I don’t cook much, but it was a pretty fun afternoon activity. Stirring, baking, photographing, and enjoying a moment with my kids.

Friday, and then Saturday rolled around. We decided to go apple picking. We brought home some apples and I decided to make an apple pie! I’m serious! And while the pie was baking in the oven, this happened:

There was a dance party in my kitchen.

And then I realized that cooking and baking was something that I could do with my family. And it might not be hard. And it could be fun. And, Florence & The Machine makes some pretty awesome music.

I have been having a really hard time trying to figure out what direction to take this blog. Over the last couple of weeks I realized that I didn’t want to write an all-out fashion blog. Pixels & Pleats is the perfect name for a fashion blog! But, it wasn’t feeling like a “comfy sweater” for all of the content that I wanted to write. I wondered if I might be able to come up with a new name to combine all of my interests: fashion, beauty, entertaining and – wait for it – food.

Welcome to Chic & Sugar. Fashion, beauty, food and entertaining.

So, what will happen with Pixels & Pleats? I am glad you asked. Over the past two months I have learned a few things about fashion blogs and their authors: 1) there are a lot of fashion bloggers, 2) there is a lot of room for these bloggers to improve the design and marketing of their blogs and 3) unlike food blogs, there are very few resources to share content and network with a community of other fashion bloggers (and if there are, they are not easy to find). So, in early 2015, I do plan to re-launch Pixels & Pleats with a focus on web design and marketing specifically for fashion bloggers. In the future, I would also like to add some community or sharing resources for blog readers.

I only have so much time to dedicate to blogging, so I want to be thoughtful with the development of Pixels & Pleats and also give my personal blog a chance to grow.

I hope you enjoy Chic & Sugar!
