The GuestHouse Hotel recently opened in Chicago. It is a boutique hotel that allows guests the option of staying in luxury condos with kitchens and small, but beautiful living spaces. One of the unique and eye catching aspects of this hotel is the lobby and surrounding rooms. There is a room to curl up on a comfortable couch in front of the fireplace, a library filled with books, and a small shop of local goods. And, there are so many wonderfully curated vintage and Chicago art prints throughout the area.
I had the pleasure of staying at the hotel, but I have also had the pleasure of spending time with the designer, Jess Lively (my former business mentor who helped me shape the brand of Kimberly FitzSimons). Jess has so wonderfully shared the process of decorating this space on her blog.
The Hotel is located in the north side neighborhood of Andersonville, which is a relief for those who are intimidated by the hustle and bustle of most downtown Michigan Ave hotels. When my family and I traveled back to Chicago for a week last month we stayed in a 2-bedroom condo for a week with our 3-year old and 9-month old daughters. We loved having the ability to spread our clothes, toys and gear over different spaces and also cook some of our meals at home in the kitchen. And, we loved being able to walk to the park and local restaurants in the neighborhood.
If you are brand new to Chicago, you may want to stay somewhere closer to the big sights of the city. However, on your second trip around, I would definitely recommend the GuestHouse Hotel. The GuestHouse Hotel also rents the lobby rooms for events and the library or living space would be perfect for a local wine tasting or intimate cocktail hour.
